Inclusion
Inclusion in education refers to ensuring that all students, regardless of their physical, behavioral, or learning challenges, have equal access to education and learning opportunities. It goes beyond mere equality or equity; it aims to create an environment where every child feels a sense of belonging, is welcomed, and valued.
Cuddington prides itself in its strong inclusive values and ethos. We strive to meet the needs of all learners. We believe that an inclusive environment supports all that are a part of it and recognise the value the unique contributions that students from diverse backgrounds bring to the classroom. We strongly believe that pupils with disabilities, as well as speakers of minority languages, benefit from inclusive education as it fosters a supportive environment where diverse groups learn and grow together.
Ordinarily Available Provision
The concept of “Ordinarily Available Provision” is grounded in the SEND Code of Practice. It refers to the support that mainstream schools or settings should be able to provide for a child or young person through their agreed funding and resource arrangements.

High-Quality Teaching: This refers to the standard teaching practices that all students receive. It includes effective classroom instruction, curriculum delivery, and assessment methods. High-quality teaching aims to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with additional needs.

Reasonable Adjustments: These are adaptations made within the regular classroom environment to accommodate a student’s specific needs. Reasonable adjustments can include modifications to teaching methods, resources, or physical access. The goal is to ensure equal access and participation for all students.
Additional Support: When a student requires more targeted assistance beyond high-quality teaching and reasonable adjustments, additional support comes into play. This might involve specialized interventions, individualized programs, or targeted resources to address specific learning difficulties or disabilities.

High Quality Teaching
High Quality Teaching considers the needs of learners which then informs planning and delivery to make learning accessible.

Teaching Strategies: Teachers use different methods to help students understand and engage with the curriculum. These strategies can include adjusting the learning environment, using specific teaching techniques, providing appropriate resources, and ensuring staff training.

Support for All Learners: High-quality teaching considers the needs of all students, including those with special educational needs or from disadvantaged backgrounds. It’s sometimes called “Quality First Teaching.”
